Local Law Enforcement
Around 50 automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Cars, exterior walls and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.
Officers report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.
The substance had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.
Police then located numerous other vandalized vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement state early analysis indicate the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; authorities are currently not aware of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they stated.
Local authorities announced they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the residents for information.
A high-ranking political figure stated the attack made him stunned and required to be addressed rapidly.
"This incident hits the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on online, recalling the murder of nine victims by a shooter aiming at people of migrant background in 2020.
