Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 years after the original Toy Story movie debuted, establishing the animation giant as a leading film company and introducing audiences to beloved figures like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a glimpse into the plot but keeping fans curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys
The preview shows the young girl — who received the toy collection when he grew up — getting a latest toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser avoids is what the sheriff is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a carnival and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.
Certainly, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
At the very least, some elements are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the insignia attached to her shirt.
It is hoped she is still the driving force among the toys.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
